Gene E. Myers, MD. F.A.C.C

Dr. Gene E. Myers, MD, FACC, is a world-renowned interventional cardiologist and medical business entrepreneur who has been in the medical field for over forty-five years.

Dr. Myers graduated from Pennsylvania State University before earning his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1969. He trained in internal medicine and cardiology at Duke University, followed by adult and pediatric invasive cardiology at Georgetown University and Children’s National Medical Center. From 1975 to 1977, he served as Lt. Commander and Cardiologist in the U.S. Navy. Afterward, he became the youngest Chief of Cardiology at the University of South Carolina. In 1977, Dr. Myers established a private practice in Sarasota, Florida, helped develop Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s first cardiac catheterization lab, and later founded the first certified free-standing outpatient cardiac catheterization lab in the U.S. He has performed over 30,000 cardiovascular surgeries.

Dr. Myers is certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Myers has obtained five United States patents concerning cardiovascular catheterization methods and devices designed to improve patient care.

Dr. Myers is dedicated to advancing cardiology and providing excellent care for his patients and their families. He balances his professional life with time for his family and personal interests. Married with three children and two grandchildren, Dr. Myers is both a skilled physician and a compassionate family man who treats his patients with genuine kindness.

David Pate, ARNP

David Pate is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with four decades of experience in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, as well as cardiovascular and critical care nursing.

He earned his associate’s degree in nursing from Wallace State Community College in 1983. Over the subsequent 15 years, he worked as a Registered Nurse mainly in ICU, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, and emergency medicine. In 1998, David obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Birmingham School of Nursing in 2000.

For the next 21 years, David served as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse at The Heart Center Cardiology, PC in Auburn, Alabama, providing cardiovascular care in both office and hospital environments.

His clinical experience includes evaluation, treatment, and management of ischemic heart disease, congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, arrhythmias, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and anticoagulation.

David joined Dr. Myers in 2021 after relocating from Alabama to Sarasota with his wife, who holds a PhD in pharmacology.
